THE SCIENCE BEHIND THE SCENT
Inside the oil
An oil's character comes from its natural chemical composition. Explore each constituent to understand the connections.
About this composition
This Turkey-origin record is based on a public GCMS/COA that identifies beta-pinene as the dominant constituent with elevated alpha-pinene, plus minor delta-3-carene, myrcene, limonene, terpinen-4-ol, sabinene, and linalool. General galbanum profile pages were used only to support aromatic description and note strength, not to override the Turkey-specific composition. Because a Turkey-lot-specific public IFRA sheet was not located in this pass, oil-level safety is anchored to a readable IFRA 51 conformity certificate for the same botanical species, Ferula galbaniflua, which lists a 20% maximum for category 5A body creams, oils, and lotions.

A TRADITION OF BOTANICAL CURIOSITY
Traditional & reported uses
These uses reflect the profile's reported traditions and literature. They are not established treatment recommendations.
- traditionally used in aromatherapy for a grounding, meditative effect due to its intensely green, resinous character
- reported to support calm, centered breathing in small dilutions
- used in perfumery as a key green, bitter top note in classic chypre and green florals
- traditionally associated with ceremonial and ritual incense use historically
- used in blends for a bold, earthy-green fixative facet
For aromatherapy and wellness use only — not medical advice. Effect statements are traditional/reported associations, not treatment claims. The Synergy Rating scores blend craft, harmony and safety, not medical efficacy. Read the safety framework.
What we're still learning · 3 data gaps
Good decisions start with knowing what is — and isn't — in the evidence.
- Odor intensity 50 is a normalization of AromaWeb's qualitative 'Medium' aroma-strength band for galbanum, not a directly published 0-100 measurement.
- Missing stronger source type for this Turkey variant: a Turkey-lot-specific public IFRA or other leave-on dermal certificate. The current max_dermal_pct is supported by a public Ferula galbaniflua IFRA certificate, but not one tied to the same Turkey batch COA.
- No public source reviewed in this pass provided verified volatility-rate or tenacity-hour values.
