A cited maximum is a limit, not a suggested dilution. Missing restrictions do not establish safety.
No furocoumarin-driven phototoxic ceiling was verified for this material. The leave-on maximum used here is instead derived from the IFRA Amendment 51 methyl N-methylanthranilate limit of 0.10% in finished leave-on products, applied to the cited 15.3% methyl N-methylanthranilate content of the concentrated green mandarin fraction (0.10 / 15.3 x 100 = 0.65%). Separately, Tisserand & Young classify mandarin (Citrus reticulata) as non-phototoxic due to negligible furocoumarin/bergapten content, so photo_max_pct is left null (not applicable / no restriction) rather than set to a numeric ceiling.
Contraindications & cautions
- majorThis 5-fold super concentrate carries a much higher methyl N-methylanthranilate load (~15.3% in the reference fractionation data) than standard mandarin oil, and that constituent is phototoxic. IFRA Standard Amendment 51 sets a 0.10% maximum acceptable concentration for methyl N-methylanthranilate in leave-on skin products (Categories 1, 2, 3, 4, 5A-5D, 7B, 8, 11B); at this concentrate's native strength, undiluted or lightly diluted leave-on dermal use exceeds that limit many times over, so dilution must be calculated against IFRA's constituent ceiling rather than assumed safe by analogy to standard mandarin oil.
- moderateOxidized citrus monoterpenes (this concentrate remains limonene- and gamma-terpinene-rich even after folding) are a documented skin sensitizer; oxidized R-(+)-limonene specifically has been identified as a frequent contact allergen in Europe. Oxidized stock of this oil should not be applied to skin, and short shelf life/refrigerated storage after opening is advisable.

About this composition
This profile uses a directly readable green mandarin vacuum-fractionation study for the concentrated bottom fraction, paired with the live Hermitage 2025 product page describing the commercial material as a cold-pressed green mandarin oil concentrated by terpene removal into a 5-fold super concentrate. The study is not the same commercial batch, but it is the closest public quantitative source located for the same green-mandarin folding process and shows the expected shift away from limonene toward higher gamma-terpinene and strongly enriched oxygenated odorants such as dimethyl anthranilate and alpha-sinensal.

What we're still learning · 3 data gaps
Good decisions start with knowing what is — and isn't — in the evidence.
- No directly readable product-specific IFRA certificate or supplier safety sheet for the exact Hermitage green mandarin 5-fold batch was located; the current `max_dermal_pct` is therefore a constituent-driven calculation from the public IFRA Amendment 51 methyl N-methylanthranilate standard plus the cited composition study, not a product-issued certificate.
- The quantitative constituent profile is based on a published green-mandarin vacuum-fractionation bottom fraction rather than the exact Hermitage commercial batch, because no public producer GC-FID/GC-MS sheet or certificate of analysis for the marketed 2025 super-concentrate was located.
- The numeric odor intensity is an archive normalization of the live product page's directly read qualitative description rather than a published instrument-based scale.
