From the needles of the Scotch Pine, this oil is a wonderful surprise. I have never liked Pine Essential Oil (a surprise, since I love most of the other conifers…fir, spruce, etc.). But to me, pine smelled like bathroom cleaner. Yuck! Because I disliked the pine oils I had experienced, I probably never sought out a better specimen. But it found me. Free, heady, the freedom of the mountain tops. I have since learned that commercial distillers are apt to label any combination of any pine species “Pinus sylvestris” and perhaps that explains why my earlier samples were not of this caliber. True, pure scotch pine is a rare oil, not to be limited to cleaning bathrooms! Physically, all pine oils are antiseptic, anti-fungal and detoxifying. For detoxifying, use it in a sauna, It enters the body through inhalation and expels toxins through perspiration. A few drops of Pine and either Lemon or Lemon Eucalyptus in a scrub bucket cleans all surfaces, aiding in the elimination of unwanted bacteria and fungi on floors, in the tub, etc. It’s a good addition to any cleaning mix. Ah, but what this pine will do to the emotional atmosphere of the room you have cleaned is amazing! I think this particular Pine Essential Oil will be a wonderful addition to any “pick me up” blend, refreshing and reviving both the physical and mental spirit just like a stroll through a pine forest. When you are exhausted, but can’t stop to rest, Pine can restore energy and balance. A specific for nervous exhaustion and debility. Some authorities say that pine can be cleansing and healing for depression and hopelessness. For coughs, colds congestion, Valnet recommends adding Pine, Eucalyptus, and Lavender to the diffuser. Pine is an excellent expectorant, helping release mucous and ease breathing. It can help clear congestion in the sinuses, lungs and bronchial passages. (For this purpose, I’d think about a steam inhalation, rather than a diffuser, the moisture of the steam will compliment the effects of the pine. (May substitute other conifers.) Use at very low dilution, for candida, for peripheral vascular disease. for poorly perfused skin, perauthor Madeleine Kerkhof-Knapp Hayes. WARNING: Pine Essential Oil can be irritating to the skin; I prefer to use it in an airborne blend, rather than in the bath or on the skin. It should be avoided by those with allergies. **For other possible oils to avoid, please see our essential oil Contraindications page. SHELF LIFE: Approximately 2 to 3 years after you open the bottle. Storing in the dark, refrigerated, and decanting half full bottles into smaller, full bottles will extend shelf life. More evidence needed for this report
What the evidence tells you
2 reports connected; 2 directly linked by the supplier. Read the evidence before comparing chemistry.
2 source documents archived
The downloaded source document is preserved with its content fingerprint, so later changes do not overwrite the evidence. Archiving alone does not establish its report type or quantitative validity.
Report linked from the product page
The supplier connects this product to the report. Confirm the batch on the bottle before applying these figures to a purchase.
Original analytical report status needs confirmation
These source documents are saved, but their status as original laboratory reports is unconfirmed or they are publisher summaries. They remain outside historical anomaly conclusions.
Chemical extraction needs review
Automatically extracted figures are visible for inspection. They are excluded from historical anomaly conclusions until the extraction is reviewed.
Comparison context is incomplete
Missing or unconfirmed: botanical name, plant part, extraction method, origin, analysis method, batch, exact analysis date. Unknown values are not assumed to match known values.
Numerical comparison is not supported for this report
The source describes the analysis as qualitative. Its listed figures remain visible, but are excluded from numerical historical anomaly conclusions.
Source extraction has review notes
Some source peak rows could not be fully verified or quantified. The source describes a qualitative GC/MS analysis; these figures are not validated mass fractions. The source includes reproduction restrictions; the archived original remains private. Some source peaks overlap or combine constituents; independent percentages may not be available.
Numerical comparison is not supported for this report
The source describes the analysis as qualitative. Its listed figures remain visible, but are excluded from numerical historical anomaly conclusions.
Source extraction has review notes
The source describes a qualitative GC/MS analysis; these figures are not validated mass fractions. The source includes reproduction restrictions; the archived original remains private. Additional source extraction notes require review against the original document.
Not enough comparable history to assess differences
A range requires at least three earlier, reviewed original reports with the same botanical, chemotype, origin, plant part, extraction, analysis method, percentage basis and storage context. Missing and trace values are never replaced with zero.
