Another conifer? Yes, I thought the same thing. Our Aromatic Medicine instructor, Mark Webb teaches this oil, and when I suggested substituting one of the other Fir oils we stock he said, “I like this one because it is so high in esters.” (Esters, as I hope you remember, are the RELAXING component of the most relaxing essential oils.) So I looked at the GC of one a trusted friend was offering, and what leaped out at me was the extraordinarily high level of one ester, borneol acetate…the major component of this oil. SO…we bought some, sight unseen. And I fell in love. Now, I love conifers. I’m a pushover for a new tree oil. Distillers know this, so I buy far too many, our clients get confused about all of them, and end up not buying ANY. So I wasn’t going to stock this. But… I love the conifers. And I love to diffuse them. But some of them can keep me awake at night. A *relaxing* conifer? Yes indeedy! With the new safety warnings cautioning restricted use of the Eucalypts and other oils high in cineole with toddlers and babies, mothers are always seeking oils they can safely diffuse to help with stuffy noses and congestion. Robert Tisserand has recommended the conifers, across the board, as safe and gentle decongestants. Now, I’m a grandma, no littles currently in my care. But I remember the nights my babies were fussy and cranky and couldn’t sleep because they were all stuffed up and couldn’t breath. And I realized that a conifer that might help with a stuffy nose and might also help a wee one (or an adult!) relax into sleep could well become a mother’s best friend. Aromatically, most conifers are top notes, high and free. To my nose this Siberian Fir oil is deeper, perhaps a high heart note and sweeter than most of our “needle oils.” Michelle was pouring it this afternoon and mentioned that she really dislikes working with the conifers, they just leave her too scattered. But this new Siberian Fir felt warm and comforting. It tends to last longer on a scent strip as well, it will contribute to the “staying power” of your blend. Safety: No contraindications with normal aromatherapy usage. As with all conifers, avoid oxidation. SHELF LIFE: Approximately 2 to 3 years after you open the bottle. Storing in the dark, refrigerated, and decanting half full bottles into smaller, full bottles will extend shelf life. Certificate of Analysis: Batch No. AU-76402 Batch No. AU-764023 Batch No. AU-764024 Batch No. AU-764025 Batch No. RU-58881 Batch No. RU-59041 Batch No. RU-59220 Batch No. RU-59517 (Current Batch, Final Analysis In Process) Blends With: Other Conifers, Citrus oils, Oakmoss, Rosemary, Juniper, Labdanum, Patchouli, and Lavandin. Abies sibirica, wild harvested in Russia. (Commercially called Siberian Pine, but it is a true fir.) • Very relaxing • Useful for children with congestion • Warm and comforting

Evidence gap

Original analytical report status needs confirmation

These source documents are saved, but their status as original laboratory reports is unconfirmed or they are publisher summaries. They remain outside historical anomaly conclusions.

Evidence gap

Chemical extraction needs review

Automatically extracted figures are visible for inspection. They are excluded from historical anomaly conclusions until the extraction is reviewed.

Evidence gap

Comparison context is incomplete

Missing or unconfirmed: plant part, origin, analysis method, batch, exact analysis date, extraction method. Unknown values are not assumed to match known values.

Evidence gap

Numerical comparison is not supported for this report

The source describes the analysis as qualitative. Its listed figures remain visible, but are excluded from numerical historical anomaly conclusions.

Evidence gap

Source extraction has review notes

Some source peak rows could not be fully verified or quantified. The source describes a qualitative GC/MS analysis; these figures are not validated mass fractions. The source includes reproduction restrictions; the archived original remains private. Some source peaks overlap or combine constituents; independent percentages may not be available. A source date requires review against the original document. Additional source extraction notes require review against the original document.

Not enough comparable history to assess differences

A range requires at least three earlier, reviewed original reports with the same botanical, chemotype, origin, plant part, extraction, analysis method, percentage basis and storage context. Missing and trace values are never replaced with zero.
