A cited maximum is a limit, not a suggested dilution. Missing restrictions do not establish safety.

No Serbia-specific quantified furocoumarin assay was available on the accessible supplier materials, so the IFRA 0.80% restriction remains the applicable leave-on cap when the furocoumarin level is unknown.

About this composition

This record uses the Liberty Natural Serbia COA as the primary composition source for the major peaks because it provides lot-specific quantitative results for a Serbia-origin steam-distilled Angelica archangelica oil. The supplier's product page title and INCI both identify the material as root oil, although the COA's 'Parts Used' field says 'OLEO-GUM-RESIN'; that inconsistency is preserved as a gap rather than silently normalized away. Closure was raised from 0.864 to 0.96 by adding minor/trace constituents from Acimovic et al. 2017 (Natural Product Communications 12(2):205-206), a peer-reviewed GC-FID/GC-MS study of wild-grown A. archangelica root oil from Mt. Ozren, Serbia -- the same country of origin as the COA lot, and a close match on the major peaks (alpha-pinene 29.7%, delta-3-carene 14.2% vs. the COA's 31.5%/16.1%). The two sources are independent lots/analyses, not duplicates, so minor constituents quantified only in the literature source are added here as supplementary rows rather than merged into the COA's combined peaks. For archive scoring, odor_intensity is normalized to 70 from live public aroma-band descriptors that place angelica root between medium and medium-strong strength rather than publishing a native 0-100 figure.

What we're still learning · 5 data gaps

Good decisions start with knowing what is — and isn't — in the evidence.

  • The public Serbia COA identifies the material as root oil in the page title and INCI but also states 'Parts Used: OLEO-GUM-RESIN'; resolving that supplier inconsistency would require a corrected primary supplier document.
  • The Serbia COA reports limonene and beta-phellandrene as a combined peak rather than separate quantified constituents.
  • No public source reviewed in this pass expressed angelica root odor intensity on the dataset's required 0-100 numeric scale; the stored value 70 is an archive normalization of live public descriptors ('Odor Strength: medium' from Perflavory and 'Strength of Initial Aroma: Medium - Strong' from AromaWeb), not a published laboratory number.
  • No source-backed volatility_rate value was verified in this pass.
  • Closure raised from 0.864 to 0.96 by adding 12 minor/trace constituents from Acimovic et al. 2017 (Natural Product Communications 12(2):205-206), a peer-reviewed GC-FID/GC-MS study of wild Mt. Ozren (Serbia) A. archangelica root oil. This is a different lot/analysis than the Liberty Natural COA (both Serbia-origin, with closely matching major peaks), so the two sources are blended rather than treated as duplicates; the literature source's own total was 99.3% with 15 unidentified minor peaks (3.6%), so full agreement between the two Serbia datasets should not be expected.
