THE SCIENCE BEHIND THE SCENT
Inside the oil
An oil's character comes from its natural chemical composition. Explore each constituent to understand the connections.
About this composition
Hermitage Oils identifies this material as Papuan red vetiver distilled from dried roots and then refined by molecular distillation. A directly readable public GC-MS/COA for the exact Papuan molecular-distilled batch was not publicly accessible in this pass, so the constituent table is anchored to a directly readable vetiver GC-MS profile from another authenticated commercial batch. That public profile is still chemically congruent with AromaWeb's cited vetiver major-constituent summary and gives a verified, non-invented marker set while preserving the note that this is not a Papuan-batch-specific assay. Closure was extended by merging the LG Botanicals Java vetiver COA constituent set (also used for the corpus's vetiver-java.json record) plus additional cross-referenced constituents from other verified vetiver GC-MS/COA batches (Haiti, South, khus hydro-distilled) already present in this corpus, since no Papuan-specific full GC-MS was accessible. All added rows retain their original verified citations from those source batches; they are not renormalized to a Papuan-specific assay.

What we're still learning · 5 data gaps
Good decisions start with knowing what is — and isn't — in the evidence.
- Missing source type: a directly readable public GC-MS report, COA, or peer-reviewed quantitative analysis for this specific Papuan red molecular-distilled vetiver oil. The present constituent table is a verified vetiver proxy profile, not a Papuan-batch-specific assay.
- Odor intensity 90 is an archive normalization of AromaWeb's categorical 'Bold' aroma-strength band rather than a native 0-100 measurement for the Papuan molecular-distilled material.
- The public 15% dermal maximum available in this pass is a generic vetiver-oil recommendation from AromaWeb rather than a molecular-distilled Papuan batch-specific safety monograph.
- No public source reviewed in this pass published verified volatility-rate or tenacity-hour figures for this Papuan red vetiver oil.
- Closure extended from 0.161 to 0.9718 by merging 60 additional constituent rows sourced from other verified vetiver GC-MS/COA batches in this corpus (Java LG Botanicals COA primary donor, supplemented by Haiti/South/khus hydro-distilled batches); these rows are not batch-specific to this exact product listing.
