About this composition
A directly extracted 2025 GC/MS batch report shows Buddha Wood as an oxygenated sesquiterpene-rich oil dominated by eremophilone, 2-hydroxyemermophilone, and santalcamphor, with eudesma-5,11(13)-dien-8,12-olide B and a (Z)-alpha-santalal analogue as the next strongest markers. This record additionally transcribes the remaining named (non-'Unidentified') peaks from the same batch report down to roughly the 0.03% level, including 8-hydroxy-1,11-eremophiladien-9-one, pogostol, maaliol, eremophilene, eremophila-7(11),9-dien-8-one, eudesma-5,11(13)-dien-8,12-olide A, beta- and alpha-selinene, 4,5-di-epi-aristolochene, intermedeol, eremophila-1(10),8,11-triene, beta-vetivenene, furanoeremophilene, selina-4,11-diene, gamma-costol, and guaiol, bringing total identified mass closer to the report's own 96.89% total-identified figure. AromaWeb's reviewed safety summary states Tisserand and Young do not indicate special precautions for this oil, while a live topical-use recipe page publicly recommends a 1-2% whole-body dilution.

What we're still learning · 3 data gaps
Good decisions start with knowing what is — and isn't — in the evidence.
- The public maximum dermal value used here comes from a live supplier whole-body topical-use recommendation rather than a directly viewable IFRA or Tisserand monograph page.
- CAS numbers for Eudesma-5,11(13)-dien-8,12-olide B and the reported (Z)-alpha-santalal analogue were not directly confirmed in a public chemistry reference during this pass.
- Odor intensity 40 is an archive normalization of AromaWeb's categorical 'Soft - Medium' aroma-strength band rather than a native published 0-100 measurement.
